Welcome to the dedicated website for community updates on the redevelopment of the former Greggs Bakery site in Twickenham, known as Twickenham Green.
Following planning approval in 2023, London Square is working to bring forward 116 new homes, including 58 affordable homes, commercial space and 100 car parking spaces.
Background
After extensive consultation with the local community and Richmond-upon-Thames London Borough Council, London Square received planning approval to demolish the bakery buildings and create a new mixed-use development which will include much needed new homes and commercial space – with 50% of the new homes being affordable for local people.
The new homes, designed by Assael Architecture, will contribute to the Borough’s housing need.
Current site condition
Our site team have been making good progress, with 90% of the demolition works complete.
The site team have also established their site compound and welfare cabins, and the main construction works have commenced with the foundation works ongoing. This will be followed by brickwork and the erection of scaffolding.

How we manage on site works
Monitoring noise and vibration
During the demolition phase there are real-time monitors in place around the site to ensure the levels of noise, vibration and dust do not exceed levels required by Richmond Council, who visit site regularly to inspect progress. In compliance with our planning permission, three dust monitors will continue to be in place from ground works to completion on site. Our contractors will be dampening down during warmer or windier weather, which is the process of spraying loose materials with water to reduce the potential spread of dust and debris from the site.
Managing vehicle movements
Traffic marshals are on duty during working hours and will be closely monitoring to ensure the safety of our neighbours and residents.
Working hours
- Monday to Friday: 8am to 6pm
- Saturdays: 8am to 1:30pm
- Sundays and Bank Holidays: Closed, unless prior approval from Richmond Council.
